5G NR is a developing platform which will connect IoT on an interoperable network that enables mission critical services in levels of latency, reliability and security for consumers and vendors.
By the year 2020 5G will connect multiple devices and industries, this being the forefront of potential new services and experiences for consumers. This new scalable network will support enhanced mobile broadband with extreme capacity in data rates and user mobile abilities. In addition to public usage 5G NR (New radio) enables ultra low complexity through an infrastructure to supply the activity needs in the near future. 5G NR is designed to support diverse spectrum bands at all levels of frequency requirements such as efficient multiplexing of low latency and nominal traffic through diverse deployment models.
To distribute multiple services in urban areas, companies will use MIMO (multiple input multiple output) based on newly designed antenna technology which will increase coverage and capability. This combination of wireless communication is designed to minimize errors and optimize data transaction speed.
4G LTE (long term evolution) will evolve parallel to 5G in addition to Wi-Fi improvements to enable better services and capabilities. 5G NR is designed to support all aspects of the new spectrum with sharing paradigms this creates new opportunities for new innovation.
The drive to establish the 5G network standards will create market opportunities for vendors to distribute macro-cell based stations which can provide support and coverage over a wireless infrastructure. Small cell units are crucial in connection abilities to users and the IoT (Internet of things) service providers as the units provide the required mobile network capacity.
As 5G continues in development, broadcast and signal technologies are required to be adequate in order to provide the standard service to consumers and businesses alike. In theory, 5G will be 40 times faster than the current 4G in terms of content delivery and efficiency. This upgrade to the infrastructure must be established to enable the demanded amount of data being distributed to multiple smart personal devices including IoT (internet of things).
Video streaming service providers such as Netflix and Amazon Prime need to supply their VOD (video on demand) and personalization to customers using high bandwidth and low latency. The protocols for content delivery through 5G will develop in efficiency. The 3 main solutions in video data traffic are:
As IPTV (internet protocol television) becomes a popular method of watching television content broadcasters are adopting new technologies. The stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) will be in place for diameter signaling which enables communication between different network elements used in the LTE network standard. Because the distribution of content will accelerate and extended the right levels of required traffic will be based on SCTP which provides multi-homing and redundant paths to increase resilience and reliability. This protocol can divide the message sequences into chunks rather than bytes in terms of video streaming the SCTP transmits multiple data chunks in parallel distribution.
User datagram protocol (UDP) in 5G is an electronic communication solution. This allows broadcasters to use computer applications to structure their transmission channels. This stateless application is provided for large number clients which make it ideal for streaming medias such as IPTV.
Transmission control protocol plays a crucial role in internet applications such as world wide web, email, remote administration and file transfer. The communication service enables the content streaming methods to alternate between source materials. The different packages of video data are divided into segments on the internet module. The applications are dependable on a UDP this provides a more effective service from broadcasters and improves customer experience.
All consumers look forward to the introduction of new gadgets as they have more cool features, applications and connectivity. In IoT (Internet of Things) interoperability is a key component to the success and functionality with these newly developed devices. Different mobile phones designs can interconnect to provide adequate service to customers the services providers must the consider the level of complexity which will increase. Configuration on the network is crucial to maintaining consolidation on a single platform known as a CDP (connected device platform).
The CDP involves multiple point solutions for devices to operate yet this does not necessarily reduce complexity on such a diverse network. The usage of device analytics as a starting point for data collection in a management system which can track devices at a micro level as well as a model operating system. This combination of management mixes CDP with customer experience with data relating to information available on a help desk.
Horizontal platform enables secure connectivity, data collection in business application development as this will be exercised by vendors and consumer companies.
An IoT horizontal platform provides three unique solutions:
- Ensure maximized value of analytics and managed data through end-to-end authentication, security and privacy.
- Deliver value beyond connectivity through richer experience and set of services for customers
- Scale by applying platform across all verticals without building discreet solutions for each application
Different industries such as the transport industry will require different solutions and confidence with manufacturers. Connected vehicles must be entrusted on the network not to compromise driver’s personal information and the vehicle systems will be secure from cyber attacks.
In the telecommunication industry companies such as Nokia will provide a SIM solution as part of the company’s program to impact on IoT development.
Finnish mobile giant Nokia is dedicating their focus to the progress of 5G network as it comes prepared for commercial usage by the public. This particular area of telecommunication 5G will be established and expected to launch in the year 2018.
The company will implement 5G in the future development of both mobility and fixed applications. New radio air interface standard which is designed to support multiple devices and services. Nokia plans to expand their venture to Asian countries including China, Japan and South Korea all have expressed an interest in the adoption of 5G.
The 5G technology in the telecoms industry will be based on Nokia’s new radio air which involves 2 main features in development. The first is the usage of massive MIMO (multiple input multiple output) involving multiple antennas to serve on both the source and the destination provides an efficient service circuit to minimize the potential errors and optimize speed. The second is Beamforming processes enable WIFI to be focused at a certain point as signals are emitted their outbound distribution losses connection strength. The solution of beamforming enables coverage to be maintained at full capacity which will be critical for 5G.
Nokia 5G FIRST is a recently launched program end-to-end solution incorporating AirScale and AirFrame technology. This acceleration enables operators to provide services to design and implement 5G in both vendors and multi-technology environments such as data centers and corporate buildings. The design targets of 5G architecture require broad and flexible capabilities to support disruptive technologies, new approaches and features to adapt to industries.
Marc Rouanne, president of Mobile Networks at Nokia said: “There should be no doubt about the huge potential of 5G. Through 5G FIRST, Nokia is evolving its 5G strategy to drive the industry rapidly towards the adoption of standards-based commercial applications – as early as 2019. Doing so will require broad cross-industry support, and we call upon regulators and governments to free up and enable the use of spectrum at low-, mid- and high-frequency bands for trials. This will allow robust evaluation of 5G to take place, so that collectively, we can deliver one of the most important new technologies in history, one that will truly drive the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
As the broadcast industry is changing the required technology and infrastructures are facing new challenges to deliver video services to customers in new quality which match expectations and satisfaction.
Content delivery is accustomed to traditional linear methods that is not altered or controlled by the receiving customer. The transaction from linear to non-linear is set to occur in hybridization as aspects in the broadcast and radio industry infrastructures remain based on linear methods. Non-linear content is found on popular VOD (video on demand) websites these include Netflix and Amazon Prime. The further development is based on the ability of 5G to provide development solutions to manage the increased data traffic across the networks.
The current design of the internet is to not capable of providing the amounts of concentrated data traffic across broadcast networks in wide distribution. Solutions to meet customer demands on content being delivered through streamed methods to particular destinations. The developed 5G infrastructure will be able to access and connect customers using multiple smart devices with on demand content.
At the start of 2020 over 7 billion people are predicted to have internet access with the development of smart connected devices being used by consumers will number between 40 to 55 billion as MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) as IoT (internet of things) comes into further development. 5G network standard will be ready for commercial usage by the early 2020’s architectural changes are will provide efficient delivery from service providers to stream content over vast distances.
