New Augmented Reality Stage

Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) is gaining a foot hold in both the public and business sectors ranging from work projects, education and entertainment. Multiple devices have been designed and launched by major corporations including Microsoft and Google Glass. The most common form of these devices are headsets and smart glasses in addition Oculus and Vive headsets are already inoculated with game consoles.

Magic leap refers to a Mixed Reality Lightfield this involves overlapping digital 3D graphics onto the user’s field of view through a headset with transparent lenses. This is shall be the start of the next stage of AR as it is combining both VR and AR virtual elements in real life environments this term is called mixed reality (MR).

This has the potential to generate images that are indistinguishable from real life objects by using a ‘Dynamic Digitized Lightfield Signal’ which will be the trademark of Magic leap. In further development, this would completely transform how people interact with both the digital and real world.

“We’ll build a ‘Hello world, this is how you do stuff,'” said CEO Rony Abovitz, “and then you guys build something with us and be amongst the first people in the world to get your hands on what we’re doing and make really cool things.”

It is not yet confirmed how it will be officially controlled whether by voice, controllers and buttons though the video’s projection.  Magic leap has some of the biggest investors in the digital industry these include Google, Alibaba, KPCB and Andreessen Horowitz all has contributed to the company’s development raising up to $1.39 billion by the end of 2016.

Magic leap has made high-profile friends in the entertainment industry practically in cinema and film studios, one being Peter Jackson with a confirmed working project at WETA Workshop. Warner Bros is also an early investor and soon a projected will come into development. Patents have detailed in t Digital Live Artists and Digital Music Venues apps have the ability to project digital musicians in a private AR gig or during a public concert.

Last year in February 2016, Abovitz posted this update: “We are setting up supply chain operations, manufacturing – many whirligigs and test machines and gizmos abound these days. Engineers move about our spaces with a sense of urgency. Intense debates about every form of science and art you can imagine float about. Plans have been made. Program and production managers track progress. Coders are coding.”
